COSTANZO VIRGINIA MARGRET PELLEGRINO Of Indiana Twp., on Monday, February 5, 2018, passed away peacefully at the age of 92, Mrs. Costanzo was the beloved wife of the late Mario G. Costanzo; mother of Mario F. Costanzo (Brian Bonsteel), Frank L. Costanzo (Donna), and the late Jeanette M. Spicher; daughter of the late Frank and Carmela Pellegrino; sister of the late Mary Curley; grandmother of Diana, Phillip, Jonathan, Frank, Julie and Caleb; also survived by five great-grandchildren. With her husband, Virginia was one of the founding members of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and sang in the choir for many years. Every Sunday found her making lasagna and other Italian specialties as she welcomed the priest into her home for family dinners. As a gift to a growing family, she would send a shirt box of assorted homemade cookies to places as far away as Italy, Iraq, Afghanistan and the Philippines. Nothing compares to opening a package of Nana's Christmas cookies which you knew were made with love and carried the blessing of countless rosaries she said until that person returned home safely. ENERSON DANIEL M. Age 95, of Smicksburg, passed away on February 5, 2018, peacefully at home. Daniel was born on 12 April 1922, in Chicago, Illinois and raised in Glen Ellyn, IL, where he graduated from high school. He studied medicine at the University of Chicago, graduating in 1946 as part of a US Army initiative where he achieved the rank of captain. Daniel served as the surgeon for the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Springfield, MO, serving 12 years of active military duty. After completing both his internship and residency at the University of Chicago, Daniel began a long career in the development field of cardiovascular surgery, both as a medical researcher in Syracuse, NY and Pittsburgh, PA (contributing to the early research in cellular swelling and aortic valve replacement) and as a thoracic surgeon at West Penn and Allegheny Valley Hospitals. Daniel directed research at the Veterans Administration before eventually opening his private practice in thoracic surgery in Pittsburgh. Daniel always loved trying new things. So in the 1970s he and his first wife, Lillian (who died in 1997), began planting grapes on a plot of land in Smicksburg, PA. That plot ultimately became Windgate Vineyards and Winery, a local destination that has won over a hundred awards in regional and international wine competitions. Daniel is survived by his second wife, Catherine (Cay) Enerson, whom he married in 1998; his four children: Diane, Russell, Meryl, and Linda; and four grandchildren: Kimberly, Isabel, Henry, and Duncan. No immediate services are planned. But a tribute to his memory is being planned for early spring. LEGO ANN Died peacefully, surrounded by family in Naples, Florida on February 4, 2018, at the age of 86, nearly a year after she suffered a major stroke. Ann was born on April 11, 1931, in Conemaugh Township, PA, the daughter of John and Mary (Pavlischak) Sepety. As humble as she was intelligent, Ann graduated as the Valedictorian of the Conemaugh Township High School, Class of 1950. She continued her education to receive a business degree from Cambria Rowe Business College and then worked in the accounts payable department of Penn Traffic Company. She later continued her education at Elmira College in Elmira, NY. Ann met the love of her life, Paul Edward Lego, at a square dance, and brought him home to her family where he successfully passed the scrutiny of her mother and many brothers. Paul and Ann were married on July 7, 1956, and celebrated 61 years of marriage last summer. Ann was first and foremost passionate about her family. She spent all of her life dedicated to her husband, her four children and her many grandchildren. She was the consummate corporate wife and a kind and loving mother. Ann also enjoyed golf and served as chairperson of the Valley Brook CC women's program. In addition to her parents, Ann was predeceased by her brothers, Nick, John, George, Michael, Andrew and Peter; and her sisters, Margaret and Mary. She is survived, in addition to her husband, by her younger brother, Stephen; her sons, Paul Gregory (Kimberly), Douglas Edward (Rhonda) and Michael John (Wendy); and her daughter, Debra Ann; as well as by her grandchildren, Paul Henry, Tori, Dylan, Cassidy, Caroline and Bryan. SEMCHAK ALEXANDER ALEX J. Age 96, of Greenock, Elizabeth Township, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2018, surrounded by his beloved son, daughter, and close family friends. He was born on June 5, 1921, in McKeesport, and was the son of the late Georgius and Maria (Cybak) Semchak. Alex, a WWII veteran, proudly served his country as a Captain in the US Army Signal Corps. His distinguished military service was acknowledged by the many commendations he received including the following: American Campaign Medal-WWII, American Defense Medal with Bronze Star-WWII, Army Good Conduct Medal with Bronze Two Knot Device, European-African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with Bronze Star, WWII Victory Medal, and the Army Presidential Unit Citation. It was during his four-year tour of duty in Europe that he met and married the love of his life, Valerie (Ludgate) Semchak. Alex was well known due to his membership in numerous social clubs including the following: White Oak American Legion Post 701, Elizabeth Township Ex-Serviceman's Association in Boston, Sutersville Moose Lodge 1358, Order of the Owls Nest 1649, Buena Vista Volunteer Fire Co., Croation Club and Croation Men's Club Lodge 146 in Versailles, 11th Ward Welfare Association in McKeesport and the WMBU in Blythedale. Alex was preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Valerie Semchak. He is survived by his son, Brian Semchak; his daughter, Janet Semchak; and his granddaughter, Christa Semchak. ROBERTSON WILLIAM S Jr. BILL William S Bill Robertson, Jr., beloved husband of Janice and father of Thomas W. Robertson, Anne M. Robertson and David C. Robertson, passed on Thursday, January 25, 2018, at the age of 88. Bill, son of the late William S. Robertson, Sr. and Laura Mae Robertson, graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Bachelor of Law degree. While at IU he met Janice, his wife of 65 years, in mathematics class. After law school, he graduated from officer candidate school and proudly served as an Officer in the U.S. Navy during the end of the Korean War, including service on the USS Norfolk. An engineer at heart, he worked as a patent attorney at Allis Chalmers after passing the state bar in Wisconsin. The majority of his professional career was spent as a patent attorney at I.B.M. in Poughkeepsie, New York where he and Janice raised their three children. An avid reader, Bill was known to generously share his views on a wide range of topics ranging from economics to military history. He loved sharing his passion for science, sailing and woodworking with his children and their friends. Bill is also survived by his brothers and sister-in-law, John C. Robertson, James B. Robertson and Patricia Robertson, his son-in-law, Giovanni Paolo Galdi, daughter-in-law, Michelle Henderson; his seven grandchildren, Noelle Howard, Emma Robertson, Samuel Robertson, Caden Robertson, Lisa Robertson Galdi, Francesca Robertson Galdi, Sierra Robertson Galdi; his great-granddaughter, Lillie Howard; as well as his nieces and nephews, John Robertson, Phillip Robertson, Jenny Robertson, Michael Robertson, Daniel Arnold and Timothy Arnold. Roy was a Pittsburgh Firefighter, joining in 1953, and became captain in 1966. He retired from the Fire Department in 1987 after 34 years of service. Roy was a World War II era veteran in the Army Engineer Corps. He was a life member of the Morningside V.F.W. #3945, where he held several offices. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. She savored the memories she created with her family traveling to Ocean City, NJ. She will be remembered for her deep Catholic faith, positivity, and beauty inside and out. POPP EVA MAY Went to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, February 4, 2018. She was born February 24, 1925, in Farmington, WV. She graduated from West Fairmont High School in 1943. In 1947 she graduated from nursing school at West Virginia University. She went on to obtain her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from the University of Maryland in 1958. She dedicated all of her life to nursing. She worked most of her career at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore and later went into private care, where she was a nurse to the Governor of Maryland and also the famous #4 in the top ten Quarterbacks of all time, Johnny Unitas. Eva was a huge Baltimore Colts fan. She unselfishly cared for many others. She loved seafood and attended many seafood festivals. She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Mary Popp, of Fairmont, WV. Her lifelong, loving companion, Bucky Levine of Baltimore, MD; sisters, Florence of Farmington, WV, Rosie of West Palm Beach, FL, Mary Anna of Elkins, WV; and brothers, Victor of Brewster, NY, Harry of Fairmont, WV, and Mike of Marietta, OH. FRIEDLINE H. NORMAN YOUNG PA On Wednesday, February 7, 2018, age 91, of Richland Twp., at St. Barnabas Home in Gibsonia. Born in Pittsburgh, PA on January 4, 1927, he was the son of the late Arno and Elsie Schultz Friedline. Norman was a self-employed general contractor and painter for 40 years in Pittsburgh and North Hills. He loved camping and fishing at Pymatuning Lake Village in Andover, Ohio. He had served in the United States Navy during WWII and the Korean War. He was a life member of the V.F.W. Husband of Emily Grace Wehner Friedline; father of Susan Friedline Largent, Paul Friedline, Claudia Friedline Dashio (Chip), Donald T. Friedline (Anita Flowers); six grandchildren; nine great- grandchildren; and a brother, Donald Shaw Friedline.
